I advise clients to book as early as possible.  Capturing your newborn within the first two weeks of life while they are still sleepy and curled up, can make all the difference in your newborn portraits. My preference is when babies are between 7-14 days new!  My studio diary fills up around four to six weeks in advance so please call to schedule your newborn appointment before your baby is born. Since we never really know when your little one will arrive we will pencil your due date in the studio diary. When your baby is born we will schedule your appointment accordingly.  If your baby came early or if your baby is already born, don’t panic! I always do my best to squeeze newborns into my schedule and older babies take beautiful portraits too.

Please note due to my own personal circumstances I can only provide newborn sessions on a Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.  I can offer a weekend session if no other week day is suitable.

Newborns photograph best without any clothes at all. I also love to photograph newborns swaddled in blankets with lots of texture and snuggled up tight in bowls and baskets, so if you have a special blanket or two bring them. I have a good supply of newborn hats, wraps and headbands that coordinate beautifully with our blankets and props that I will use to style your images. Baby’s modesty will of course be protected in all images. I encourage clients to bring small special, personal items which make the session and images especially meaningful.

We recommend that you bring baby to the session well rested and plan to feed baby as soon as you arrive. Sleepy babies photograph perfectly, so we will ask you to undress and swaddle baby in a familiar blanket before the feeding so as to not disturb them by undressing them after they have fed. We take several breaks for feeding baby during the session to ensure that baby is happy and has a full tummy. We ask that you not be too concerned with scheduled feedings during the session and that you feed baby on demand or when they get a bit fussy to ensure their comfort and a smooth session. You will be sent a preparation guide and in advance of your newborn session so you will know all of the things I recommend to have the best chance of achieving those gorgeous sleepy curly poses.

Of course you can! Older siblings are always welcome, but if you would like a chance to relax and concentrate on the beautiful newborn images I will create for you, then you might want to arrange for a family member to take your older children away after family shots have been taken at the start. The studio is very warm for newborn sessions (typically 28 degrees) which can become uncomfortable for older siblings and with the average session taking around 3 hours this can become tiresome for toddlers.  I always encourage parent photos and tell my parents this photo may become baby’s most treasured photo when they get older.  It is not obligatory at all but I do encourage you to get involved!

You must notify me 24-48 hours prior to our session if any of you have the following symptoms:

  • A high temperature or fever
  • A new continuous cough
  • A loss of, or change in sense of smell or taste

Please note: A new, continuous cough means coughing for longer than an hour, or three or more coughing episodes in 24 hours.

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms you must notify me so we can cancel and rearrange your session.   With the current Covid-19 changes in place you shall receive a full guidance sheet on what to expect from your session, what measures are in place with regards to sanitising and social distancing.  There will be limitations on how many people shall be allowed into the studio.

YES!  I offer a mini newborn session which is aimed to capture baby from around 2 weeks to 4 months old.  The session is designed to give you photos which you may have missed in the first few days of baby’s life.  The session lasts around 1 hour, focussing completely on baby, baby can be asleep or awake the same rules do not apply to a mini session!  We pop baby on my newborn photography bed, I supply one wrap, one hat and one headband to a colour of your choice.  This is an inclusive package where your session time and five high-resolution digital files are included for the price of £200.

Yes I do! Pregnancy is such a beautiful and exciting time for couples and what better way to remember this time than to capture beautiful images! Mums-to-be who choose to have a maternity photo shoot love to celebrate this magical time and the changes to their body.

It is advisable to book in for when you are between 32 and 36 weeks pregnant. Most people secure their booking after their 20 week scan. You can also book their newborn session at this time (A discount shall be applied if you book both sessions with me)

If you are expecting twins or multiple we may schedule your session slightly earlier to ensure you feel comfortable throughout.  For location maternity sessions bright colours and layers work especially well.  For in studio a simple vest top and maternity jeans or maxi dress look beautiful along with anything that helps to accentuate your beautiful bump! I have a selection of maternity gowns and fabrics at the studio to choose from. I want to make sure you look and feel as fabulous as possible! If requested, we can also arrange for a make up artist to come to the studio to help you look and feel your’e most beautiful for these once in a lifetime portraits.

With breast feeding sessions the same care and time is applied to your session.  We focus on your special bond with baby, the natural and wonderful act of breastfeeding is simply lovely to capture.  Please visit my gallery of maternity and breastfeeding photos to give you further examples.  (insert link)

I love working with families of all ages and stages from bumps through to teens and multi generational family portraits.  Depending on your requirements we can plan either a relaxed outdoor session within the Stonehaven area or a more formal posed family portrait session in the studio.  Please note my studio can only hold small family groups, maximum 2 adults and 2-3 small children are advised.  If you have a larger family group I would advise to book an outdoor session.  If you are unsure which would best suit your family please just ask!

Outdoor sessions are perfect for active children who want to explore and run free rather than be confined in the studio and allow for a more relaxed natural portrait. Based on the number of people in your family and the ages of those involved we can advise on what we think would be the best fit for you.  Outdoor sessions are a wonderful way to capture you all naturally and with gorgeous back drops.  Please click on the link for my Outdoor Family Session brochure for further information.

1-2 weeks after your session you shall receive an email containing access details to your online photo gallery.  This gallery is password protected and only you shall have access to it.  You shall be able to view your photos from the comfort of your own home, selecting the photos you love!  (this creates an online list which I will also have access to view) once you have chosen your favourite photos there is a wee shopping trolley in the corner of each photo, click on this to view what Digital packages, print and wall art options there are to purchase.   All your photos shall be professionally edited and all digital files shall have a high resolution so you can print them easily yourself.

Your gallery shall be open for 5 working days, giving plenty time for you to choose your favourite photos.  If you are unable to choose within this time frame, unless extenuating circumstances apply there may be a fee applied to re-open your gallery.  I am usually very flexible with clients but as you will appreciate being a small business it is very important my orders are received in a timely manner.
